We believe we have a responsibility to ensure that wherever we
trade and whomever we trade with, our relationships respect and
honour human rights. This commitment means that for The Body Shop
employees the world over, and throughout our primary global supply
chain, we strive to ensure that we have rigorous systems in place
so that we only source from suppliers that commit to our ethical
trade standards where working conditions are safe and hygienic,
child labour is not used, living wages are paid, working hours are
not excessive, and no discrimination is practised.
And whilst we respect local, cultural and political differences, we
always insist that our business activities adhere to basic human
rights, as enshrined in the Universal Declaration for Human
Rights.
What's more, we want others to follow too, so through our work with
the Ethical Trading Initiative we're sharing best practice and
developing collaborative solutions with other leading companies,
NGOs and Trade Unions across the globe.
