Accessibility

We aim to make this website accessible to as wide an audience as possible. The site has therefore been designed and developed in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) recommended by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).


Design considerations

Text size

Text size can be increased using the 'Text Size AAA' function in the top right hand corner of any page on this site.


Alternatively all text is assigned a relative font size allowing you to control the text size, to increase the text size:

  • Internet Explorer: View > Text size
  • Netscape: Edit > Preferences > Appearance > Fonts
  • Opera: File > Preferences > Fonts > Minimum font size (pixels)

If you have a mouse with a wheel you can also increase or decrease text size by scrolling with the wheel of your mouse whilst holding down the control key.


Text Only

This site has a text only version. Devices that require text only will automatically be able to view the site in text only mode alternatively click here to switch to text only mode. To return to image and text mode click here.


Images

All informational images contain an ALT tag and decorative images have a null ALT attribute.


Flash Images

The website contains flash elements, if you do not have flash installed on your system a static non-moving image of the flash file will appear in its place.


Screen Readers

For users of screen readers, at the start of each page you have the option to skip the navigation to main content.


Content

The use of white background throughout the site, with plain black text, makes reading easier on the eyes, and allows the reader to take in more information.
